Racing Incident Report
While parading behind the barriers, TELECOM PRINCESS spread its left front plate. TELECOM PRINCESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had sustained puncture wounds to the sole of the foot and as such in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of TELECOM PRINCESS. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM PRINCESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, BAJAN BELL was fractious in the stalls. Before being allowed to race again, BAJAN BELL will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. RACING SPIRIT was slow to begin. CONTINUOUS FORTUNE began awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages, SUGAR AND SON raced tight inside ALWAYS GIGGLE. At the 900 Metres, CONTINUOUS FORTUNE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of LUCKY BABY. After the 800 Metres, CELESTIAL WONDER was steadied away from the heels of CONTINUOUS FORTUNE. At the 300 Metres, STAR PRODIGY, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied and shifted to the outside of MODERN INTEREST to obtain clear running. After the race, Apprentice C K Tong, the rider of STAR PRODIGY, reported his saddle shifted back after the 400 Metres. After the 300 Metres, ALWAYS GIGGLE was steadied and shifted out initially away from the heels of OBVIOUSLY and then further to the outside of LUCKY BABY to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, MODERN INTEREST hung in. When questioned, C Munce (BAJAN BELL) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said BAJAN BELL showed speed in the early stages to obtain a good position, however, came under pressure at the 700 Metres and gave ground from that point onwards. BAJAN BELL and MODERN INTEREST were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BAJAN BELL and MODERN INTEREST after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKY BABY and ALWAYS GIGGLE were sent for sampling.
