Racing Incident Report
CONESTOGA, first Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 15.6.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic). Before being allowed to race again, CONESTOGA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, DASHING WINNER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the left front leg and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DASHING WINNER. Before being allowed to race again, DASHING WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OCEAN TRANQUIL was slow to begin. On jumping, SUPER FIGHTER and SPINNING CITY bumped. On straightening, OCEAN TRANQUIL was steadied and shifted to the outside of SUPER PRINCE. At the 300 Metres, OCEAN TRANQUIL shifted out and bumped GENERAL SPEEDEE. EASY travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. S K Sit (GENERAL SPEEDEE) explained near the 1000 Metres he considered shifting his mount towards the rail, however, when he looked to his inside to do so, he noticed SPINNING CITY which had drawn outside him had commenced to improve its position towards his inside and he was therefore not able to shift ground without causing interference. He said because of this he continued to race in a three wide position. Apprentice C W Wong (KIMBO KID) explained he had made some use of his mount in the early stages in an attempt to obtain the lead. He said at the 800 Metres he was three quarters of a length in front of LUCKY STRAVINSKY, however, he considered to have continued going forward to cross that horse and race in the lead on the fence would have required him to make too much use of KIMBO KID, he therefore elected to steady his mount and continued to race outside LUCKY STRAVINSKY. E Saint-Martin (INDUSTRIAL MARVEL) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said the work of INDUSTRIAL MARVEL leading into today's race was good, however, he did note the horse appeared hot in the parade. He said at no stage of the race did INDUSTRIAL MARVEL travel well for him. INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. GOLDEN CARE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of INDUSTRIAL MARVEL and GOLDEN CARE after the race did not show any significant findings. SPINNING CITY and KIMBO KID were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted EASY had lost its left front plate and SUPER PRINCE had sustained a laceration to the right hind heel.
