Racing Incident Report

FIVE GRAINS, FERRO BEAU and GOLDEN SUN were slow to begin. STAY YOUNG began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. In the early stages, WINNING SUCCESS proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, GOLDEN SUN became unbalanced after being brushed by RICH DRAGON which got its head on the side and shifted out. Making the Home Turn, STAY YOUNG was carried wider by WINNING SUCCESS which shifted to the outside of CAPE PRINCE. Near the 300 Metres, PHANTOM THIEF, which was giving ground, was steadied to avoid the heels of THISTLE KING which shifted towards the outside of SIR ERNESTO to obtain clear running. Also near the 300 Metres, WINNING REWARD, which was held up and unable to improve, was steadied and shifted to the inside of THISTLE KING to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres, CAPE PRINCE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of WINNING SUCCESS which shifted in. After the 100 Metres, WINNING REWARD, which was closing the race off strongly, was shifted to the outside off BOBO WIN to continue going forward. Throughout the race, ROMANTIC GREEN travelled wide and without cover. The performances of GOLDEN SUN, FERRO BEAU and ROMANTIC GREEN, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN SUN, FERRO BEAU and ROMANTIC GREEN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A Delpech (SELF FLIT) said it was anticipated the race would be run at a quick tempo and therefore he was instructed to endeavour to obtain a position behind the lead. He said he rode SELF FLIT along in the early stages, however, the horse failed to show speed and got further back than was intended. He said approaching the 800 Metres he was racing in a four wide position, so he elected to steady and shift across to race outside FIVE GRAINS in a two wide position. THISTLE KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. CAPE PRINCE and ROMANTIC GREEN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of THISTLE KING, CAPE PRINCE and ROMANTIC GREEN after the race did not show any significant findings. BOBO WIN and WINNING REWARD were sent for sampling.
