Racing Incident Report

On several occasions approaching and passing the winning post on the first occasion, MATIRI KING was crowded for room inside JUBILOSO (B Prebble) which shifted in. Approaching the 1300 Metres, MATIRI KING was steadied when again crowded for room inside JUBILOSO which shifted in momentarily. B Prebble was told to exercise greater care. Also approaching the 1300 Metres, VICTORY TREASURE was shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN (Apprentice C W Wong) which at this time after having been crossed by TACTIC KING improved inside the heels of that horse. Apprentice Wong was told to ensure he does not allow his mounts to improve into positions where there is insufficient room. Making the turn near the 600 Metres, JUBILOSO and CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN bumped when CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN was steadied away from the heels of ROCKET WIN which shifted in when barely clear. After the 100 Metres, EASY PUNCH, which was closing the race off strongly, was shifted to the outside of TACTIC KING to continue going forward. A Starke (ROCKET WIN) said he had been instructed to ride the horse from the inside barrier further forward than is usual. He said at its last start ROCKET WIN travelled around midfield, relaxed in the run and closed the race off fairly. He said as ROCKET WIN has previously shown a tendency to hang out, it was felt if the horse were ridden forward to obtain a position on the fence it would be to its advantage. S Dye (HEALTHY WEALTHY) said he was concerned with the action of HEALTHY WEALTHY throughout the race and when placed under pressure after the 600 Metres the horse failed to respond and in his opinion became worse in its action. He said because of this he eased HEALTHY WEALTHY down in the Home Straight. The performance of HEALTHY WEALTHY was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, HEALTHY WEALTHY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HEALTHY WEALTHY, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT and JUBILOSO were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HEALTHY WEALTHY, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT and JUBILOSO after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN, TACTIC KING and EASY PUNCH were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 18 January 2007)
HEALTHY WEALTHY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. HEALTHY WEALTHY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S Woods this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, HEALTHY WEALTHY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again.
