Racing Incident Report

O DANNY BOY was slow to begin. THE WORLD OF LOVE began awkwardly, then was checked when crowded for room between MY SAY and LUCKY FRUIT which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. NAMJONG FIGHTERS began awkwardly and lost ground. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, TIGER RIDGE failed to muster speed, then near the 1100 Metres was steadied and shifted in. Near the 1000 Metres, Apprentice K L Chui (SALUT BEAUTE) dropped his whip. At the 800 Metres, DASHING CHAMPION raced tight inside GLORY YEARS which got its head on the side and hung in away from SALUT BEAUTE. After the 800 Metres, GLORY YEARS was steadied to avoid the heels of SALUT BEAUTE which shifted in when barely clear. After this, GLORY YEARS continued to hang in and was reluctant to hold its position making the turn at the 600 Metres. Near the 250 Metres, O DANNY BOY was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between AMO and DASHING CHAMPION which at this time shifted in. Approaching the 200 Metres, TIGER RIDGE, which was improving into a narrow run on the inside of MY SAY, was momentarily steadied when crowded for room inside that horse which shifted in. For the major part of the race, GOOD TO GO travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, A Delpech (AMO) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in as forward a position as possible from the inside barrier. He pointed out that the winners of the first two races had led on the fence and it was felt the track tonight might favour horses racing in this manner. Mr Y S Tsui, trainer of AMO, confirmed the riding instructions issued to A Delpech and said these were consistent with instructions issued when the horse had previously drawn barrier 1 or 2 when racing over the course and distance. He said also consistent with his previous instructions he told A Delpech to ensure he gave AMO a good warm up behind the barriers. He added when racing over course and distance from an inside barrier AMO has always performed creditably. B Prebble (LUCKY FRUIT) said the horse began awkwardly, then travelled fairly in the run outside the leader. He said after straightening LUCKY FRUIT did not quicken as he had hoped, then commenced to give ground. LUCKY FRUIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY FRUIT after the race did not show any significant findings. INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, INDUSTRIAL MARVEL was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. AMO and TIGER RIDGE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported O DANNY BOY had lost its right hind plate.
