Racing Incident Report
MASTER ABLE began awkwardly and lost ground. On jumping, SIXTY SECONDS was taken across behind runners and in the early stages proved difficult to settle. Shortly after the start, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was steadied when crowded for room between WONG'S SUCCESS and TRAVEL LEADER which got its head on the side and shifted in. Near the 1200 Metres, PACIFIC ALLIANCE was checked when disappointed for running between WONG'S SUCCESS and BAAZIGAR which held its line as PACIFIC ALLIANCE endeavoured to shift out. No action was taken. After the 1200 Metres, MASTER ABLE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CHEEKY LAD. After entering the Back Straight, MASTER ABLE got its head up. Near the 100 Metres, CHEERFUL HAPPINESS was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside MEATH which got its head on the side and shifted in. D Whyte (MEATH) stopped riding and straightened his mount. W M Lai (CHEERFUL HAPPINESS) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a forward position if possible, however, it was anticipated KINGSGATE GLORY from the inside barrier would be ridden to maintain the lead on the fence. He said after beginning well he noted KINGSGATE GLORY and TRAVEL LEADER going forward on his inside. He said MEATH which had drawn wider on the track was also being ridden to go forward, he therefore allowed CHEERFUL HAPPINESS to obtain a position one off the fence behind MEATH which travelled outside the leader. S Dye (BAAZIGAR) explained the poor performance of the horse was in his opinion due to the tempo of the race. He said after entering the Back Straight when the leader was obtaining an uncontested lead, he did consider shifting out to improve his position, however, as tonight's track favoured horses racing close to the rail, he felt it would be against the best interest of BAAZIGAR to do so as he would have been required to improve wider on the track. He said at the 600 Metres he shifted to a three wide position and went forward and whilst BAAZIGAR did respond somewhat in his opinion the manner in which it closed the race off was disappointing. BAAZIGAR was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. CHEEKY LAD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BAAZIGAR and CHEEKY LAD after the race did not show any significant findings. KINGSGATE GLORY and TRAVEL LEADER were sent for sampling. After this race, it was reported MASTER ABLE had lost its right front plate.
