Racing Incident Report

FOKINE began awkwardly and got its head up, causing S K Sit, its rider, to become unbalanced. As a result, FOKINE lost ground. Shortly after the start, HELENE PILLAGING was checked when crowded for room between DAVE'S BEST which shifted out and ALL'S WELL which shifted in after being bumped by AIN'T HERE. After the 800 Metres, MY CHOICE and HAPPEE OWNER were momentarily crowded for room inside SUPREME CLASS. Shortly after straightening, DAVE'S BEST, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted out. DAVE'S BEST continued to have difficulty finding clear running and at the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of MY CHOICE into clear running. In the early part of the Straight, AIN'T HERE had difficulty obtaining clear running behind SUPREME CLASS and inside RUSSIAN PEARL. Over the concluding stages, DOWN TOWN hung out. Throughout the race, SUPREME CLASS travelled wide and without cover. S Dye (ALL'S WELL) was unable to offer an explanation for the poor performance of the horse. He said ALL'S WELL travelled slightly further back than was intended as a result of the crowding at the start. He said ALL'S WELL did not travel as well as it usually does for him during the race and whilst it did make some ground in the early part of the Straight in his opinion its run ended at the 100 Metres. When questioned regarding the poor performance of SILENT WITNESS, F Coetzee said his mount began well and he was able to obtain a position on the fence behind the leader. He said after the 600 Metres FLORAL PEGASUS which was racing forward of him on his outside on two occasions shifted in, causing him to be momentarily tightened for room, however, he was able to maintain his position. He said after this SILENT WITNESS did not respond to his riding in the Straight and failed to finish the race off as he had hoped. SILENT WITNESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. ALL'S WELL and SUPREME CLASS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SILENT WITNESS, ALL'S WELL and SUPREME CLASS after the race did not show any significant findings. FLORAL PEGASUS and DOWN TOWN were sent for sampling.
