Racing Incident Report

GLORY YEARS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped MULLAAD. Shortly after the start, MULLAAD was checked when crowded for room between GLORY YEARS and ISLAND SPEED which on jumping shifted in. In this incident, GLORY YEARS became unbalanced and lost ground. At the 900 Metres, GOOD TO GO was steadied away from the heels of ISLAND SPEED which shifted in when barely clear. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CALL ME CULLEN hung out. Over the concluding stages, SALUT BEAUTE raced tight inside GLORY YEARS which drifted in. Throughout the race, FLYING SPRINTER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, M W Leung (REUNION) said given the horse's health history he had been asked to allow the horse to travel comfortably which was anticipated to be in a forward position. He said ISLAND SPEED was able to cross to the lead at the 700 Metres and he initially followed that horse. He said after the 600 Metres he did not ride along to maintain his position behind ISLAND SPEED as he felt given his riding instructions it would not be in the best interest of REUNION. He said as a consequence of this GOOD TO GO was able to shift to a position in front of him. He said in the Straight when being ridden out REUNION hung in. M W Leung was told he should ensure he endeavours to maintain a favourable position where circumstances permit. S Dye (SUPER PRINCE) explained he rode his mount along in the early stages, however, it felt uncomfortable in its action, therefore after the 900 Metres he elected to steady his mount in an endeavour to have it become balanced and travel comfortably. ISLAND SPEED and GOOD TO GO were sent for sampling.
