Racing Incident Report
At declaration time, O Doleuze was declared as the rider of both DIAMOND FLYER and SPICY HOT. It was established that O Doleuze had a firm commitment to ride SPICY HOT. As such, the Stewards permitted S Dye to be substituted as the rider of DIAMOND FLYER. For this declaration error, O Doleuze was fined $2,000. DIAMOND FLYER was slow to begin. CRUSH ON YOU began awkwardly and lost ground. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, TREMENDOUS PLUS was steadied when awkwardly placed between BATURO and MILLION CHASE which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from FLAG FINDER (A Delpech) which shifted ground when not quite clear. A Delpech was told to exercise greater care. Also making the turn at the 1000 Metres, SPICY HOT became unbalanced. Near the 800 Metres, SUN AWESOME was steadied when awkwardly placed inside TREMENDOUS PLUS which at this time got its head on the side and shifted ground while hanging. TREMENDOUS PLUS continued to hang in for the remainder of the race. Over the final 100 Metres, GOOD VIEW SUCCESS and SPICY HOT raced tight outside STAR OF FAME which drifted wider. The performance of SUN AWESOME, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, SUN AWESOME will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the poor performance of BATURO, D Whyte explained the horse travelled in a forward position, however, was wide and not able to obtain cover until near the 600 Metres. He said shortly after straightening BATURO commenced to give ground and was somewhat unbalanced in its action. He said he believed BATURO would be better suited when able to be ridden with cover as at this stage of its career it is still somewhat immature. BATURO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BATURO after the race did not show any significant findings. FLAG FINDER and MAGI JOY were sent for sampling.
