Racing Incident Report

FORTE was withdrawn on 26.5.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen right fore suspensory). Before being allowed to race again, FORTE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WONDER KID, which was fractious in the stalls, was slow to begin. SHY BALDY began awkwardly and was then hampered by WINNING FELLOWSHIP which shifted out at the start. THUNDER FLASH began awkwardly. In the early stages, PROFITING CHAMPION proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. When questioned, E Saint-Martin (PROFITING CHAMPION) stated when working down to the barrier he formed the opinion that the ground hard up against the outside fence was slightly superior to that further in. He stated he followed PLEZAYRE (Apprentice K T Yeung) throughout the race and passing the 200 Metres a run was available to both the outside and the inside of that horse. He stated as he was of the opinion the outside running was superior he shifted PROFITING CHAMPION to the outside of PLEZAYRE to improve his position. He added approaching the 100 Metres PLEZAYRE shifted out slightly which resulted in PROFITING CHAMPION being crowded for room, however, PROFITING CHAMPION in his opinion was reluctant to hold its position and near the 100 Metres he was obliged to steady PROFITING CHAMPION and shift around the heels of PLEZAYRE. Apprentice Yeung was advised he makes every effort to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WINNING FELLOWSHIP, B Prebble stated shortly after the start he became concerned the horse was not handling the track conditions as it did not appear to be striding out as it should. He added in his opinion today's performance could be attributed to the track conditions. WINNING FELLOWSHIP was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of WINNING FELLOWSHIP after the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, D Whyte (GALBRAITH) stated the horse travelled well until near the 300 Metres at which time it came under pressure. He added GALBRAITH was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish the race off. GALBRAITH was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GALBRAITH was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. ALWAYS GIGGLE and PLEZAYRE were sent for sampling.
