Racing Incident Report

K-JACK was withdrawn on 12.6.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore foot). Before being allowed to race again, K-JACK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. INSIDER was slow to begin. At the 700 Metres, RACING SPIRIT was steadied away from the heels of OBVIOUSLY which at this time was being steadied to obtain a position behind KEEN SOUL. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SUPER RED was steadied away from the heels of DOUCAI. Shortly after this, DOUCAI was steadied when awkwardly placed inside RACING SPIRIT. At the 250 Metres, INSIDER was momentarily inconvenienced when having difficulty obtaining clear running inside the heels of KEEN SOUL. At the 150 Metres, KEEN SOUL was momentarily steadied away from the hindquarters of HAPPY SUNDAY. Over the concluding stages, INSIDER and KEEN SOUL raced tight when INSIDER was shifted to the outside of HAPPY SUNDAY after having experienced difficulty obtaining clear running. Apprentice H W Lai (SUPER RED) explained he had been instructed to ride the horse with cover and it was hoped he would settle in a position around 4th or 5th. He said SUPER RED began well and he immediately steadied his mount in order to follow the instructions issued to him. He said to obtain a position with cover, he was required to go back to a position behind RACING SPIRIT which was further back than he hoped to be. He did say SUPER RED proved difficult to settle and as a consequence failed to finish the race off. OBVIOUSLY, HAPPY SUNDAY and INSIDER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 14 June 2007)
The Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison reported that OBVIOUSLY was this morning found to have an injury to the left front tendon. Before being allowed to race again, OBVIOUSLY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
