Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, BRILLIANT FLASH became fractious, got down and attempted to break out underneath the front gates of its stall. BRILLIANT FLASH was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse had sustained a wound to its right front leg and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of BRILLIANT FLASH. Before being permitted to race again, BRILLIANT FLASH will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SIR LAGO was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, in the early stages, SUPER WONGCHOY was taken across behind runners to obtain a position on the rail. In the early and middle stages, UNIQUE SPEED hung out. Passing the 200 Metres, KING HOGAN was steadied when unable to improve behind CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. E Saint-Martin (THUNDER DANCING) explained he had been instructed to ride his mount in a handy position with cover. He said shortly after the start TREASURE RAIDERS which was drawn to his inside was being ridden hard to go forward, he therefore allowed that horse to continue on in the hope that he would be able to obtain a position with cover in front of midfield. He said after passing the winning post on the first occasion he allowed CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE to improve around his outside as to have gone forward and held that horse out would have resulted in him racing without cover. He said near the 1300 Metres he had hoped SIR LAGO would shift to the fence and he in turn would then steady to a position behind FUJIAN PRINCE, however, KING HOGAN improved its position to race on the inside of SIR LAGO. He said as a consequence he raced wide and without cover throughout and making the turn at the 600 Metres was carried wider when FUJIAN PRINCE shifted out. THUNDER DANCING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. BODACIOUS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of THUNDER DANCING and BODACIOUS after the race did not show any significant findings. DASHING THUNDER and KING HOGAN were sent for sampling.
