Racing Incident Report

KING OF SPADES was slow to begin. SPIRIT OF LO PAN began awkwardly, got its head up, then in the early stages raced greenly. MARIACHI was a little slow to begin. From a wide barrier, ACCELERATOR was taken across behind runners in the early stages. For some distance after the 1200 Metres, GALLANT WIN hung in and near the 1000 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMAZING FORTUNE which shifted in. At the 1100 Metres, ACCELERATOR was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GALLANT WIN. Near the 800 Metres, DECENT FELLOW was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPIRIT OF LO PAN. On straightening, KING OF SPADES was steadied and shifted to the outside of ACCELERATOR to obtain clear running. After the 400 Metres, PEARL OF INDIA was bumped by LIMONCELLO which at this time shifted to the outside of WILD ACE into clear running. Over the final 100 Metres, MARIACHI hung out. Because of this near the 50 Metres, M Nunes changed the whip into his left hand. At the 50 Metres, ACCELERATOR, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied away from the heels of SPIRIT OF LO PAN. After the 50 Metres, AMAZING FORTUNE was shifted to the inside of SIGHT WINNER which when under pressure shifted out. In the run to the line, GALLANT WIN, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied away from the heels of SPIRIT OF LO PAN. Because of this, GALLANT WIN was not ridden right out to the end of the race as it normally would be. In the Straight, WILD ACE hung out. CONQUEROR and GALLANT WIN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CONQUEROR after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, GALLANT WIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SIGHT WINNER and MARIACHI were sent for sampling. After the race, Apprentice K L Chui, the rider of DECENT FELLOW, reported his mount was unbalanced during the race and stumbled. DECENT FELLOW was examined by the Veterinary Officer following the race who said there were no significant findings.
