Racing Incident Report
SIR OCTAVIUS was withdrawn on 13.12.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STAR PRODIGY (D Beadman). Before being allowed to race again, SIR OCTAVIUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MULTI-WIN SPIRIT and MASTER ABLE were slow to begin. On jumping, SPRING SMILES bumped with COULDN’T CARE LESS and was then slow to muster speed. In the early stages, BAUHINIA was taken back to a position with cover. S K Sit (CENAMIRA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of AS YOU WISH and SPRING SMILES, causing those horses to be crowded for room, lose their rightful running and be checked. S K Sit was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 24 December 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension is with immediate effect. In addition, S K Sit was fined $15,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. After the 1400 Metres, MASTER YING got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of NOBLE ZOOM (P H Lo) which shifted in when not properly clear. P H Lo was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Approaching the 1200 Metres, when the pace of the race steadied, a number of runners were inconvenienced, the worse sufferers being FANTASTIC WIN, SPRING SMILES and COULDN’T CARE LESS. Making the turn near the 1200 Metres, ARISTOCRACY hung out. Over about the final 200 Metres, SPRING SMILES had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not fully tested. A Delpech (AS YOU WISH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of CENAMIRA which as a result lost its rightful running and was checked. When CENAMIRA was checked, crowding was caused on its inside to COULDN’T CARE LESS and ARISTOCRACY. A Delpech was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Wednesday 2 January 2008 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 23 December 2007. In addition, A Delpech was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. In the run to the winning post, NOBLE ZOOM and MASTER YING raced tight due mainly to MASTER YING laying in. In the Straight, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE hung in. STAR PRODIGY and MASTER YING were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STAR PRODIGY and MASTER YING after the race did not show any significant findings. SPRING MILES, ARISTOCRACY and COULDN’T CARE LESS were sent for sampling.
