Racing Incident Report
The explanation of D Whyte for being late in presenting himself in the Parade Ring was accepted. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, NAMJONG FIGHTERS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MERIDIAN PRIDE. From on straightening until the 200 Metres, WIN AGAIN was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, WHIPLASH travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, M Du Plessis (NAMJONG FIGHTERS) said he had been instructed to take advantage of the horse’s good barrier draw and ride it further forward than has been usual. Mr D J Hall, trainer of NAMJONG FIGHTERS, confirmed the riding instructions issued and said it was not intended to have too much use made of the horse in the early stages to obtain a position. He said recently whilst NAMJONG FIGHTERS has been performing well on the turf he had been disappointed with the manner in which it has been closing its races off. He said he was again disappointed with the manner in which NAMJONG FIGHTERS finished its race off today, however, the horse had over-raced in the early stages. TAN TAT BABY and WHIPLASH were sent for sampling.
