Racing Incident Report

DISGUISE began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, NOBLE CONQUEROR was taken across behind runners, then ridden along to obtain a midfield position on the fence. From the outside barrier, in the early stages, SYLLABUS was taken across behind runners. At the 1700 Metres, DISGUISE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SILVER SUN after being carried in by SOUNDS BEST. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, FAMOUS DANCER got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of EVER BRIGHT which was proving difficult to settle. At the 700 Metres, SYLLABUS was bumped and carried wider by SOUNDS BEST which at this time shifted out to a three wide position to follow EVER BRIGHT forward. In the early part of the Straight, YOUNG HERO, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was shifted wider on the track. At the 250 Metres, NOBLE CONQUEROR and DISGUISE bumped. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, EXCELLENT BOY had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, DISGUISE hung in and at the 100 Metres shifted ground and was checked to avoid the heels of NOBLE CONQUEROR which at this time also shifted out. In the circumstances, no action was taken. When questioned regarding the poor performance of EVER BRIGHT, O Doleuze said in his opinion the horse did not handle racing at Happy Valley on the first occasion. He said EVER BRIGHT became unbalanced when the tempo quickened approaching the Home Turn and after this failed to finish its race off. He said at this stage EVER BRIGHT appears better suited racing at Sha Tin. EVER BRIGHT, SOUNDS BEST and SUPREME GAINS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of EVER BRIGHT, SOUNDS BEST and SUPREME GAINS after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIAMOUNTAIN and NOBLE CONQUEROR were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported DISGUISE had lost its left front plate.
