Racing Incident Report

On jumping, TRULLI got its head up and struck Z Purton, its rider, in the face. After this, TRULLI was steadied when crowded for room between OURAJA and MAGIC SWEEP which shifted in after being bumped by CONGRATULATION. Shortly after the start, MASTER GUNNER was steadied away from the heels of GREAT SUPREME. In the early stages, NORTH HILL proved difficult to settle. With the intention of being ridden in a position with cover, from a wide barrier in the early stages THUNDER DANCING was taken across behind runners, however, making the turn at the 800 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, STAR OF FAME was bumped by GREAT SUPREME which at this time shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of CALIFORNIA LUCK which was steadied to allow CONGRATULATION to cross. TRULLI, which was following, was steadied, shifted out and bumped WHIPLASH. Near the 800 Metres, CALIFORNIA LUCK travelled awkwardly close to the heels of CONGRATULATION. At the 700 Metres, GREAT SUPREME was steadied when disappointed for running between CALIFORNIA LUCK and STAR OF FAME. In the early part of the Straight, CALIFORNIA LUCK had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 300 Metres, MAGIC SWEEP was steadied when awkwardly placed between WHIPLASH and THUNDER DANCING, both of which shifted ground. In the Straight, CONGRATULATION hung in. For the entire Home Straight, GREAT SUPREME was not able to obtain clear running and because of this was not tested. G Boss (NEW CHAPTER) explained his mount began awkwardly and as a consequence his saddle shifted back and to the left hand side and because of this he on several occasions in the early stages of the race looked down to ascertain how far the saddle had shifted back. He said he was not able to properly correct his saddle and as such was not able to ride his mount at any stage of the race. NEW CHAPTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NEW CHAPTER after the race did not show any significant findings. GREAT SUPREME, OURAJA and SUPER CHARGE were sent for sampling.
