Racing Incident Report

MONEY MAN was withdrawn on 24.5.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, MONEY MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KILDARE began awkwardly and blundered, then lost further ground when bumped by EIGHT PLUS NINE which had been a little slow to begin and was then bumped by MANY GAINS which shifted in. As a consequence, EIGHT PLUS NINE lost its position. Then in the early and middle stages, KILDARE proved difficult to settle. ALL TIME HIGH began awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages, QUICK TOUCH, which was travelling wide and without cover from the outside barrier, was steadied and taken back in an endeavour to obtain a position with cover. Prior to straightening, EIGHT PLUS NINE became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by ALL TIME HIGH which shifted out. In the Straight, MANY GAINS hung in. W M Lai (FEEL-SO-GOOD) reported at about the 200 Metres he became concerned with the action of the horse and because of this and also that the horse was well beaten he did not continue to ride his mount out to the end of the race. Before being allowed to race again, FEEL-SO-GOOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, B Prebble (EIGHT PLUS NINE) said his mount travelled only fairly throughout the run, came under pressure near the 700 Metres and did not respond to his riding. He said after being bumped prior to straightening EIGHT PLUS NINE then failed to close the race off and was most disappointing. He said because of the manner in which EIGHT PLUS NINE travelled throughout the race he felt something might be amiss with the horse. EIGHT PLUS NINE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of EIGHT PLUS NINE after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, EIGHT PLUS NINE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WILLING STORM and GILDED FLIGHT were sent for sampling.
