Racing Incident Report

Whilst in the holding stalls, HAPPY SUNDAY shifted its left front plate. HAPPY SUNDAY was replated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, INVESTAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the request of E Saint-Martin, its rider. The Veterinary Officer said in his opinion it was suitable to race. When being loaded, HAPPY SUNDAY shifted its left front plate. HAPPY SUNDAY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had sustained a punctured wound to the sole of its left front foot and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of HAPPY SUNDAY. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY SUNDAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAGIC TURBO and MASSIVE STAR were slow to begin. From a wide barrier, ELECTRONIC MASTER was taken back in the early stages. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, MASSIVE STAR got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of BULB TREASURE. ELECTRONIC MASTER, which was racing outside MASSIVE STAR, was carried wider. B Prebble (MASSIVE STAR) reported after this incident the horse continued to hang out badly and proved difficult to ride. He said because of this he was not able to ride MASSIVE STAR along as in his opinion the horse if placed under pressure would run off the track. In the circumstances, the performance of MASSIVE STAR was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, MASSIVE STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend. At the 900 Metres, GANBARIA was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of OCEAN WIDE and tight inside INVESTAR which shifted in slightly. At the 700 Metres, BIG KAHUNA and RACING SPIRIT were checked when crowded for room inside ELECTRONIC MASTER (O Doleuze) which got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. In this incident, some inconvenience was caused to MAGIC TURBO. As the Stewards were satisfied O Doleuze straightened his mount as soon as could be expected, no action was taken. After the 500 Metres, MAGIC TURBO became unbalanced when endeavouring to improve into a narrow run between MARVELLOUS and ELECTRONIC MASTER. For a short distance after straightening, MAGIC TURBO and MARVELLOUS had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 250 Metres, MARVELLOUS was steadied when crowded for room inside INVESTAR which shifted in slightly. MARVELLOUS and MASSIVE STAR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MARVELLOUS and MASSIVE STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. OCEAN WIDE and INVESTAR were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported BIG KAHUNA had lost its right front plate.
