Racing Incident Report

Prior to leaving the holding stalls, EASY had its right hind plate reset. EASY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. As the start was effected, NATIONAL GLORY, which was being assisted by an attendant, reared and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, NATIONAL GLORY will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. PERFECT STYLE was slow to jump, then began awkwardly and as a consequence lost a considerable amount of ground. When questioned, J Lloyd (NATIONAL GLORY) said it was anticipated his mount would race in a rearward position. He said after NATIONAL GLORY began badly, his mount was off the bridle in the early and middle stages and despite being niggled along failed to make up ground. He said in the middle stages NATIONAL GLORY commenced to hang in, then in the Home Straight whilst closing the race off strongly hung in badly. He said because of the manner in which NATIONAL GLORY was racing, he was not able to ride his mount out as he normally would and because of this NATIONAL GLORY was not fully tested in the run. GOOD DISHES was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GOOD DISHES was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination confirmed it to be a roarer which has previously been reported. SUN TROOPER and GOOD TO GO were sent for sampling.
