Racing Incident Report
The Veterinary Officer advised that LEGEND, which was reported to have been fractious whilst being transported to Happy Valley, was found to have sustained a mild abrasion to the outside of the left hock. LEGEND was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SMART CHOICE was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, VALUE CHOICE was crowded for room between SUPER CHARGE and WELL NOTED which shifted in slightly. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, SUPER CHARGE raced tight inside VALUE CHOICE which shifted in slightly when being checked away from the heels of MACHO EXPRESSO. Near the 800 Metres, LEGEND got its head up when momentarily crowded for room inside GREAT RENOWN (Apprentice K C Leung) which shifted in slightly. GREAT RENOWN was then shifted out abruptly to relive the tightening to LEGEND. TRULLI, MOON CHASER and INVINCIBLEKINDNESS, which were all following, were hampered in consequence. Apprentice Leung was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. In this incident, VALUE CHOICE, which was racing to the inside of LEGEND, shifted in away from that horse, resulting in SUPER CHARGE being crowded for room. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, LEGEND, which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT RENOWN, was checked away from that horse when bumped by SUPER CHARGE which shifted out slightly At the 200 Metres, MOON CHASER was shifted out away from the heels of SMART CHOICE which was giving ground. D Whyte reported that INVINCIBLEKINDNESS lay in in the Straight and for this reason passing the 150 Metres he changed the whip from his left hand into his right hand. He said as he did this, he dropped his right rein which placed him at a disadvantage for a short distance until he was able to regain the use of the rein. A veterinary inspection of SMART CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. EL MORRO and WELL NOTED were sent for sampling.
