Racing Incident Report

LUCKY MONEY was slow to begin. SOLDIER began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, HEAVENLY POWERS shifted out abruptly. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SPIRIT OF LO PAN failed to muster speed. Passing the 1300 Metres, BRILLIANT ONE shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of MAINLAND SHUTTLE. Near the 800 Metres, MAINLAND SHUTTLE was steadied away from the heels of O’REILLY MAGIC. BRILLIANT ONE, which was following MAINLAND SHUTTLE and was proving difficult to settle, was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence. Passing the 200 Metres, O’REILLY MAGIC shifted in under pressure and was steadied away from ELECTRONIC MASTER which shifted out slightly. When questioned regarding his riding of EVER KING, Apprentice T H So stated that he was instructed to ride the horse, which was having its first start for Trainer D Cruz, in a position about midfield if possible. He said EVER KING began only fairly, therefore he elected to shift in behind SOLDIER in the early stages rather than be caught wide. He added near the 1200 Metres EVER KING got its head on the side and hung out across the heels of SOLDIER. He said he continued to follow SOLDIER along the Back Straight, however, when that horse improved its position, he was reluctant to commence riding EVER KING along as the horse had proved difficult to manage near the 1200 Metres. He said passing the 500 Metres he commenced to niggle at EVER KING to have it improve its position and shortly after straightening shifted his horse out and commenced to ride it out. He said, in his opinion, EVER KING finished off the race fairly. Apprentice So was advised that his riding, particularly from the 800 Metres until shortly after straightening, had come under notice in that he had not taken sufficient measures to position his horse to the best advantage. He was told that in similar circumstances he should make every endeavour to ensure horses ridden by him race in a competitive position and are not left with too much to do. HOLIDAY SUN, ELECTRONIC MASTER and LUCKY MONEY were sent for sampling.
