Racing Incident Report

PACIFIC ALLIANCE began awkwardly. TELECOM GOGO and CENTURY KNIGHT bumped at the start and then shortly after the start TELECOM GOGO and CENTURY KNIGHT were crowded for room between NEW KID IN TOWN and REDOUTE’S FORTUNE which was taken in slightly by OLYMPICSHIP which shifted in away from DIVINE KID. Due to these incidents, TELECOM GOGO lost ground. In the early and middle stages, NICE KING proved difficult to settle and after the 800 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. H W Lai (AMITYSHIP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CENTURY KNIGHT, causing that horse to be taken in across the rightful running of AMERICAN GLORY which lost its rightful running and was checked. In this incident, AMERICAN GLORY made heavy contact with the hindquarters of THE RIFLE which as a result became unbalanced. H W Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 14 December 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 6 December 2009. In the early part of the Straight, THE RIFLE was held up for clear running behind GREAT SUPREME and after the 400 Metres was shifted to the inside of that horse to obtain clear running. In the Straight, CHIEF WITNESS got its head on the side and hung out. Near the 100 Metres, AMITYSHIP was steadied away from the heels of CHIEF WITNESS which continued to hang out. Passing the 100 Metres, MAGNANIMOUS was shifted out away from the heels of TELECOM GOGO. For the majority of the race, MAGNANIMOUS travelled wide and without cover. J Victoire (PACIFIC ALLIANCE) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out right to the end of the race where circumstances permit. A veterinary inspection of GREAT SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. CHIEF WITNESS and TELECOM GOGO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that REDOUTE’S FORTUNE had lost its right front plate.
