Racing Incident Report

LASKER was slow to begin. CLEMENT ELITE was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of SUPER GOAL MASTER which shifted in after bumping with FLYING CHINA. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LASKER got its head up when being checked away from the heels of O’REILLY MAGIC and shifted out, resulting in SUPER GOAL MASTER being hampered. Passing the 600 Metres, MOON CHASER shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of JUGGERNAUT. Rounding the Home Turn, LASKER was steadied away from the heels of SUPER GENKI (A Suborics) which shifted out. A Suborics was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Near the 50 Metres, CLEMENT ELITE, which shifted in slightly, was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE WINNER which itself shifted out. When questioned, J Lloyd stated that it was anticipated that FORTUNE WINNER would not show sufficient speed in the early stages of tonight’s race over 1650 Metres to be able to take up a forward position as it had done in its races over longer. He said therefore he was instructed to obtain cover on FORTUNE WINNER if possible. He stated FORTUNE WINNER began well, he did not ride his mount along in the early stages but rather looked to obtain cover if possible. He said in the early stages he was not able to obtain cover and was obliged to race in a three wide position outside JUGGERNAUT. He said at this stage he did give consideration to allowing FORTUNE WINNER to stride forward in an attempt to shift in closer to the rail, however, he felt that had he done this, JUGGERNAUT would have improved its position to his inside which would result in too much use being made of FORTUNE WINNER and therefore not being able to finish off the race. He added for this reason he elected to remain racing three wide outside that horse. Following the race, W M Lai reported that AMNESTY came under pressure prior to the Home Turn and passing the 500 Metres became unbalanced in its action. He said he immediately became concerned with AMNESTY and shifted the horse out approaching the 400 Metres as he felt that it may have broken down. He said he rode AMNESTY along in the early part of the Straight, however, he remained concerned with the action of the horse and for this reason he did not ride it out as he normally would in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of AMNESTY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of AMNESTY was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, AMNESTY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SUPER GOAL MASTER after the race revealed that the horse was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER GOAL MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O’REILLY MAGIC and MOON CHASER were sent for sampling. <28/1/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that CASH MONEY was found to have a sore left front tendon on day after race. Before being allowed to race again, CASH MONEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
