Racing Incident Report

NEEDLES AND THREAD was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was taken across behind runners. Shortly after the start, CERISE CHERRY and CALIFORNIA MOON raced tight between YUE LU TREASURE which shifted in slightly and HOLD HANDS which shifted out. After being ridden along to obtain a position inside SAPELLI passing the 1500 Metres, FLYING IN was steadied when SAPELLI shifted in. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, NEEDLES AND THREAD was left racing wide and without cover and near the 1100 Metres was allowed to stride forward, however, NEEDLES AND THREAD continued to race wide and without cover throughout the race and in the Straight gave ground. For some distance passing the 1200 Metres, FORTUNE HAVEN proved difficult to settle. Near the 600 Metres, CERISE CHERRY was bumped and taken wider by CALIFORNIA MOON which at this time shifted away from the fence to race outside the leader, LU YUE. NEEDLES AND THREAD, which was racing outside CERISE CHERRY, was bumped and taken wider in turn. Approaching the 600 Metres, YUE LU TREASURE and FLYING IN bumped as FLYING IN shifted out. As a result of this, YUE LU TREASURE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ROYAL PERICLES passing the 600 Metres. Near the 550 Metres, HOLD HANDS was checked away from the heels of FLYING IN. At the 200 Metres, HOLD HANDS was steadied and shifted to the outside of SAPELLI in an attempt to improve its position. HOLD HANDS was then awkwardly placed between SAPELLI and inside FLYING IN for some distance approaching the 100 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, CERISE CHERRY got its head on the side, hung in and bumped CALIFORNIA MOON. Then over the concluding stags, CALIFORNIA MOON was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CERISE CHERRY which continued to hang in. A veterinary inspection of YUE LU TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. YUE LU TREASURE, SAPELLI and CERISE CHERRY were sent for sampling.
