Racing Incident Report

WINE WIN began awkwardly and lost ground. HAPPY REUNION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GOLDEN BAUHINIA. After this, HAPPY REUNION was taken across behind runners. OCEAN WIDE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of LUCKY RED. Rounding the turn after the 600 Metres, HONGKONG SUPERSTAR got its head on the side and lay out. Shortly after entering the Straight, FRIENDLY GAINS was steadied when disappointed for running between ISLAND SPEED and HONGKONG SUPERSTAR, both of which shifted slight ground. After this, FRIENDLY GAINS was directed back to the inside of HONGKONG SUPERSTAR and for some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres raced tight after obtaining a narrow run to the inside of that horse. In the early part of the Straight, EL ZONDA had difficulty obtaining clear running and for some distance after the 200 Metres raced tight to the inside of WINE WIN. Near the 100 Metres, LOYAL ARMY was crowded for room inside ISLAND SPEED which when giving ground shifted in slightly. Over the concluding stages, FRIENDLY GAINS was steadied while racing in restricted room to the inside of HONGKONG SUPERSTAR. Consequently, FRIENDLY GAINS was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. In the Straight, HAPPY REUNION hung in and proved difficult to ride. For the majority of the race, GOLDEN BAUHINIA travelled wide and without cover. Throughout the race, HOLEY DOLLAR and LUCKY RED travelled wide and without cover. The Veterinary Officer reported that BUNDLE O’ GOLD had sustained an abrasion on its left hind cannon in the holding stalls. He further reported that following an inspection of that horse, BUNDLE O’ GOLD was found suitable to race. A veterinary inspection of HOLEY DOLLAR and GOLDEN BAUHINIA after the race did not show any significant findings. EL ZONDA, HONGKONG SUPERSTAR and BUNDLE O’ GOLD were sent for sampling.
< 7/10/2010 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that EL ZONDA was lame in its right front foot on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, EL ZONDA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
