Racing Incident Report

GRANDWAY FLYER began awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with BUMPER STRIKE. After this, GRANDWAY FLYER was ridden along to obtain a more forward position but failed to muster speed. COVER BOY was slow to begin. Near the 1600 Metres, SAMBUOYANT was steadied when crowded for room between ROCKALOT and BINGO KEY which shifted in. IMAGINATION, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of SAMBUOYANT and shifted out, resulting in GALLANT GALLOP and HORSE WIN WIN being hampered. Passing the 1400 Metres, GALLANT GALLOP was checked away from the heels of ROCKALOT. For some distance in the middle stages, IMAGINATION proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Rounding the Home Turn, FOREST FOUNTAIN was held up for clear running. Throughout the race, GRANDWAY FLYER and SAMBUOYANT travelled wide and without cover. The performance of ROYAL WARRIOR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ROYAL WARRIOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of COVER BOY after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HORSE WIN WIN had bled from both nostrils. LUCKY MONEY STAR, BUMPER STRIKE and ROCKET AND GOLD were sent for sampling.
