Racing Incident Report

FLYING TOGETHER was withdrawn on 2.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, FLYING TOGETHER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ABLE GREY began awkwardly. ELEGANCE KLAMMER was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between AT MOMENT IN TIME and CALIFORNIA MOON which shifted in. BOULD MOVER hung in badly throughout the race and near the 300 Metres was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SHINING VICTORY. After this, BOULD MOVER continued to hang in badly and proved very difficult to ride. The performance of BOULD MOVER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BOULD MOVER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MR CELERITY, G Cheyne stated that the horse did not travel in the early stages as it did when it was successful over the course and distance on 20 February 2011. He said that, in his opinion, MR CELERITY may not have backed up after racing at Happy Valley on 16 March 2011 and, in his opinion, may be better suited by having its runs spaced. A veterinary inspection of MR CELERITY after the race revealed that the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise. The Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of ELEGANCE KLAMMER after the race revealed that the horse had a mild inflammation of the throat. CALIFORNIA CHOICE and SHINING VICTORY were sent for sampling.
