Racing Incident Report

T Angland (SMART FORTUNE) was fined $2,000 for weighing out with two girths. After being loaded, REGENCY LUCK became fractious and got its head down. REGENCY LUCK was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY LUCK will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Also after being loaded, THE WAND became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, THE WAND will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. CLYDESIDER began awkwardly and was slow to begin. THE WAND was crowded for room at the start between BOUNCER which shifted out and SMART FORTUNE which began awkwardly and shifted in. Shortly after this, SMART FORTUNE and SHINING TREASURES bumped. From the outside barrier, BONDI LAD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SHAHJEE was slow to muster speed. Approaching the 900 Metres, VINTAGE HUSSLER was steadied away from the heels of HINYUEN PALADIN (Apprentice K C Ng) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Ng was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Approaching the 800 Metres, GIFT IS GIFT got its head up when proving difficult to settle and passing the 800 Metres was steadied away from the heels of VINTAGE HUSSLER which shifted in. Also approaching the 800 Metres, KING OF HEARTS raced tight inside GIFT IS GIFT. Making the turn near the 800 Metres, LUCKY WARRIOR got its head on the side and hung out. At the 400 Metres, SMART FORTUNE was shifted out when disappointed for running between LUCKY WARRIOR and THE WAND which shifted out. Approaching the 200 Metres, SMART FORTUNE was momentarily steadied and shifted to the inside of LUCKY WARRIOR to continue improving and then over the concluding stages raced in restricted room between SHINING TREASURES and LUCKY WARRIOR. Because of this, SMART FORTUNE was not ridden out right to the end of the race. Throughout the race, WIN A DOZEN and LUCKY WARRIOR travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HINYUEN PALADIN, Apprentice K C Ng stated that he had to make some use of his mount to cross runners to his inside. He said after reaching the lead after the 900 Metres, he steadied the tempo on HINYUEN PALADIN so that the horse would be able to finish off the race. He said when VINTAGE HUSSLER improved around HINYUEN PALADIN after the 600 Metres, his mount was not able to maintain its position to the inside of that horse and then when placed under pressure in the Straight was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SHAHJEE and HINYUEN PALADIN after the race did not show any significant findings. GIFT IS GIFT and THE WAND were sent for sampling.
<27/6/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>SHAHJEE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SHAHJEE was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a very stiff and restricted action. Before being allowed to race again, SHAHJEE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
