Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, FORTUNE WINNER lifted its front feet off the ground and as a result was slow to begin. WIN ESPRIT and VIGOR DELIGHT were also slow to begin. LEO’S PRIDE began awkwardly, made heavy contact with HANDSOME BATCHELOR and became unbalanced. SOLAR UP raced wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 1200 Metres was allowed to stride forward to assume a position outside of the lead. Passing the 1200 Metres, DARPANA commenced to over-race and got its head up when being steadied off the heels of HANDSOME BATCHELOR. At the 1000 Metres, DARPANA shifted out off the heels of HANDSOME BATCHELOR, resulting in FLYING CHINA being crowded out onto INDIGO WAY. Following this incident, INDIGO WAY was left racing wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE WINNER was held up on the heels of FLYING CHINA and unable to improve. When questioned, T Clark stated that after being afforded a nice run behind the speed, ENHANCED came off the bridle at the 600 Metres and was immediately under pressure to maintain its position on the Home Turn. He said whilst ENHANCED was hampered by LEO’S PRIDE which shifted out near the 250 Metres, it was a beaten horse at this stage and as he had concerns regarding the horse’s action, he did not test ENHANCED over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of ENHANCED after the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, M Guyon stated that despite being hard ridden from the 600 Metres, JOLLY GOOD did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. He said he was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of JOLLY GOOD. A veterinary inspection of JOLLY GOOD after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FLYING CHINA after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on I SMELL MONEY at the request of Trainer J Size. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. I SMELL MONEY, LEO’S PRIDE and HANDSOME BATCHELOR were sent for sampling.
<28/11/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that VIGOR DELIGHT had a swollen and sore right front fetlock with associated lameness on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, VIGOR DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
