Racing Incident Report

DEVON JOY was withdrawn on 12.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (sore left fore tendon) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter OSCAR PRINCE (W M Lai). Before being allowed to race again, DEVON JOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BINGO KEY and OSCAR PRINCE bumped at the start. BINGO KEY then shifted in and made contact with GREEN GLORY. SUPER PEPPER and DESCARTES were slow to begin. From the outside barrier, OUTTALIMITZ was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, PLOT RATIO was steadied away from the heels of OSCAR PRINCE. Near the 1200 Metres, FANTASTISCH was steadied when crowded for room between STORM’S DESTINY and BINGO KEY, both of which shifted ground. Near the 1000 Metres, STORM’S DESTINY shifted out when being checked away from the heels of GREEN GLORY and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of BINGO KEY which became unbalanced. For some distance passing the 1000 Metres, ICE FIRE proved difficult to settle and was steadied away from the heels of GALLANT GALLOP which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER PEPPER. Near the 500 Metres, ICE FIRE was steadied away from the heels of PLOT RATIO which shifted out to improve. Near the 250 Metres, BINGO KEY got its head on the side and shifted out. The performances of SUPER PEPPER and DESCARTES, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER PEPPER and DESCARTES will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that PLOT RATIO had lost its right front plate. A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING MOUNT after the race did not show any significant findings. GREEN GLORY, STORM’S DESTINY and BINGO KEY were sent for sampling.
