Racing Incident Report

Trainer R Gibson was fined the sum of $5,000 for inadvertently declaring O Doleuze as the rider of SEA PRINCE. It was subsequently ascertained that O Doleuze was not able to ride SEA PRINCE due to being unable to make the weight. Accordingly, G Cheyne was substituted as the rider of SEA PRINCE. ROYAL DOCTOR was crowded for room at the start between PUBLIC FIGURE and WINNING ARCH which shifted out. In this incident, both WINNING ARCH and ROYAL DOCTOR became unbalanced. From the outside barrier, CENTURY SUPER STAR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, PUBLIC FIGURE failed to muster speed and consequently raced well back. Making the turn after the 800 Metres, GENE POWER got its head on the side and hung out, resulting in WINNING ARCH being taken out across the heels of HAPPY PRESTIGE. UNION’S STAR had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 100 Metres, THE WAND was steadied when crowded for room between HAPPY PRESTIGE and UNION’S STAR which got its head on the side and shifted out away from ROYAL DOCTOR which itself was shifting out. Throughout the race, ROYAL DOCTOR travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GENE POWER after the race revealed that the horse had sustained a cut to the left front pastern, however, the horse was not able to be scoped. Before being allowed to race again, GENE POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PUBLIC FIGURE after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that SEA PRINCE had bled from both nostrils. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WINNING ARCH at the request of Trainer A T Millard. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING ARCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. THE WAND, UNION’S STAR and ROYAL DOCTOR were sent for sampling.
<5/12/2011 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that HAPPY PRESTIGE had a swollen right front tendon on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY PRESTIGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
