Racing Incident Report

VICTORY MASTER was withdrawn on 5.5.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left front foot) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPIRIT SOARING (T Clark). Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHATER MIKADO and FORTUNE RED PEPPER were slow to begin. FREDERICK ENGELS shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of VOILE ROUGE. After being crossed by ALL ROUND near the 1000 Metres, MY NAME IS BOND got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance, shifting ground on a number of occasions. FORTUNE RED PEPPER, which was racing to the inside of MY NAME IS BOND, was hampered in consequence. Throughout the race, LEELI’S STAR travelled wide and without cover. After the race, B Prebble (FREDERICK ENGELS) stated that rounding the Home Turn the horse got its head up and was checked after hanging out across the heels of LEELI’S STAR. He said due to the manner in which FREDERICK ENGELS was racing, he eased the horse down in the Straight. When FREDERICK ENGELS lost ground, MY NAME IS BOUND was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of that horse. A veterinary inspection of FREDERICK ENGELS after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left front plate. However, as FREDERICK ENGELS was fractious, an endoscopic examination was unable to be conducted. The performance of FREDERICK ENGELS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FREDERICK ENGELS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of official barrier trials around a bend. A veterinary inspection of PIZZAZZ and LEELI’S STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. REAL SUPREME and VOILE ROUGE were sent for sampling.
