Racing Incident Report

Just prior to the start being effected, TOM’S EIGHTH got its head down and consequently was slow to begin. HOME WITH GLORY was slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, TRAVEL GUIDE was steadied away from the heels of MERIDIAN TREASURE which shifted in when barely clear. When the tempo slowed after the 1100 Metres, RECORD HIGH got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle and being awkwardly placed close to the heels of WIN A DOZEN passing the 1000 Metres. Near the 1000 Metres, MERIDIAN TREASURE raced close to the heels of HURRY HURRY UP. SUNNY MORE travelled wide and without cover until after the 800 Metres. Passing the 600 Metres, HOME WITH GLORY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CONNOISSEUR’S PICK which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. In the early part of the Straight, MERIDIAN TREASURE got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of HURRY HURRY UP. Passing the 200 Metres, WIN A DOZEN, HURRY HURRY UP and MERIDIAN TREASURE were all severely checked when crowded for room inside TRAVEL GUIDE which, when endeavouring to improve inside the heels of RECORD HIGH, was taken in by that horse which, when giving ground, got its head on the side and shifted in and away from MEGA CHAMPION which also shifted in slightly. VILASOL, which was following, was shifted out in consequence. As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on WIN A DOZEN at the request of Trainer K L Man. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of TRAVEL GUIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. CONNOISSEUR’S PICK, MEGA CHAMPION and SOHNA were sent for sampling.
