Racing Incident Report

The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if ISTIDE had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the official videos, it was ascertained that as the start was effected, ISTIDE became fractious and put its head down, resulting in its rider, M Chadwick, having to support himself by placing his left hand on the side barrier partition. As the Stewards were satisfied that ISTIDE had been the cause of its own difficulties and as they were of the opinion that ISTIDE had not had an unfair start, the horse was declared a runner. Before being allowed to race again, ISTIDE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. BLESSING WIN began awkwardly and shortly after the start was checked when crowded for room between ALP’S GLORY and GOOD THINKER which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Because of this, BLESSING WIN raced back in the field. A short distance after the start, ALP’S GLORY shifted in and bumped heavily with THANKSGIVING, resulting in T Clark momentarily losing the use of his left stirrup iron. Near the 900 Metres, TELECOM SUPREMO was left racing wide and without cover. Rounding the Home Turn, THANKSGIVING was crowded for room inside GOLDEN OSMANTHUS which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly when commencing to give ground. THANKSGIVING was then badly held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres when placed behind WINNING MASCOT and inside GOLDEN OSMANTHUS, both of which were giving ground. BLESSING WIN was not able to obtain clear running until passing the 300 Metres. A veterinary inspection of WINNING MASCOT, SUPER HORSE and THANKSGIVING after the race did not show any significant findings. THANKSGIVING, SOLDIER and GLORY OF INDIA were sent for sampling.
