Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the Start, Z Purton expressed concern with YOUNG TALENT’s action. The Veterinary Officer reported an examination of YOUNG TALENT did not reveal any significant abnormalities and after the necessary consultations deemed that horse to be suitable to race.
SMART FORTUNE shifted out at the start and bumped GOLD FORTUNE. After this, SMART FORTUNE was taken across behind runners.
From wide barriers, FORZA and FUEL ME UP were taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
After the 1000 Metres, FORZA was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 900 Metres, FORZA shifted in and bumped SUPREME GENKI. TURBO JEWELLERY and SMART FORTUNE, which were following, were steadied in consequence.
Approaching the 800 Metres, DOUBLE MOON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING BEAR.
Rounding the Home Turn, REGAL ARMY was bumped by RECORD HIGH which at this time shifted to the outside of MATSUKAZE into clear running.
Passing the 150 Metres, YOUNG TALENT shifted in abruptly and in doing so made heavy contact with REGAL ARMY which became unbalanced.
A veterinary inspection of MATSUKAZE after the race revealed that it was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, MATSUKAZE will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of YOUNG TALENT after the race revealed the horse to be lame in the right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG TALENT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of REGAL ARMY after the race did not show any significant findings.
YOUNG TALENT, MAELSTROM and TURBO JEWELLERY were sent for sampling.
