Racing Incident Report

SHAREMA FEELING was withdrawn on 9.5.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (mucopus) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JOYFUL WINNER II. Before being allowed to race again, SHAREMA FEELING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
MONEY WIN WINS and KING ON EARTH bumped at the start.
SUNSHINE BOY was slow to begin.
In the early stages, LOTUS LOVE was slow to muster speed despite being ridden along.
M L Yeung (JOYFUL WINNER II) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of IDYLLIC WIND, causing that horse to be checked and in turn taken in onto MONEY WIN WINS which as a result was crowded for room and lost ground. When MONEY WIN WINS was hampered, KING ON EARTH was steadied to avoid the heels of that horse and SUNSHINE BOY, which was following KING ON EARTH, was also steadied in consequence. M L Yeung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 27 May 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 18 May 2013.
W M Lai (IDYLLIC WIND) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 900 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MONEY WIN WINS, causing that horse to be severely checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. In this incident, BAMBOO DANCE, which was racing to the inside of MONEY WIN WINS, was hampered. W M Lai was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 3 June 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 26 May 2013. In addition, W M Lai was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday.
For some distance approaching the 700 Metres, KING ON EARTH was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MONEY WIN WINS.
For some distance between the 600 Metres and the Home Turn, MONEY WIN WINS (D Whyte) and FLYING KEEPER (G Mossé) raced tight as MONEY WIN WINS shifted out to obtain clear running. D Whyte was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. G Mossé was also reminded of his obligation to ensure that he does not extend his elbow too far away from his body when racing tight with other runners.
Rounding the Home Turn, IDYLLIC WIND was checked away from the heels of JOYFUL WINNER II.
BAMBOO DANCE was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
After improving inside FLORA DANICA passing the 200 Metres, SUNSHINE BOY then raced tight inside that horse for some distance due to FLORA DANICA shifting in slightly when giving ground.
Close to the finishing line, LOTUS LOVE was checked when crowded for room between JOYFUL WINNER II which was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SPECTACULAR AWARD after improving into tight running between that horse and LOTUS LOVE and WALALA which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. Due to being awkwardly placed outside the heels of SPECTACULAR AWARD, JOYFUL WINNER II was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be.
After the race, K C Leung (FLORA DANICA) advised that he had been instructed to obtain a position behind the speed if possible, however, with the blinkers on for the first time today, FLORA DANICA proved difficult to settle and he had no alternative but to lead.
Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that WALALA had bled from both nostrils
KING ON EARTH and MONEY WIN WINS were sent for sampling.
<13/5/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that SPECTACULAR AWARD was found to be lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, SPECTACULAR AWARD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
