Racing Incident Report

GRACYTOM and RAY OF GOLD were slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, ORIENTAL FANTASIA shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of HIGHLAND DRAGON which also shifted in marginally. This resulted in both horses becoming unbalanced and ORIENTAL FANTASIA being steadied when crowded for room outside KING OF THE DAY.
From the outside barrier, ALL MY GLORY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Shortly after entering the Straight, SERENDIPITY was shifted in after being steadied away from the heels of HIGHLAND DRAGON.
Passing the 200 Metres, GRACYTOM raced tight inside ORIENTAL FANTASIA which shifted in under pressure.
Over the concluding stages, ORIENTAL FANTASIA was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SERENDIPITY. Because of this, ORIENTAL FANTASIA was not able to be fully tested in the run to the finishing line.
Throughout the race, LUCKY RED travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GOOD SMILE, N Callan stated that he had to ride GOOD SMILE more vigorously in the early stages to obtain a forward position than he did when he rode it last start. He said GOOD SMILE did not travel as comfortably as it did on that occasion and in the Straight was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened out of the race. He added that prior to its last start GOOD SMILE had had some time off and it raced well when fresh but tonight the horse raced “flat”. A veterinary inspection of GOOD SMILE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
