Racing Incident Report

KING DERBY began awkwardly and from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners shortly after the start.
PEARL WIN lost its left front plate at the start.
PEARL WIN was crowded for room shortly after the start between JADE PIPPO and FIRE STARTER which shifted in.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, MIGHT AND VISION, which was laying out, was checked away from the heels of JADE PIPPO which, after shifting in of its own accord, was then taken in further by LOVELY BOY (G Mosse). G Mosse was reprimanded and advised to ensure he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in future.
TOMODACHI lost its right front plate at the 700 Metres.
At the entrance to the Straight, KYNAM was shifted in away from the heels of TOMODACHI to obtain clear running.
Approaching the 300 Metres, NIGHTLIGN was eased away from the heels of PEARL WIN.
For the majority of the race, NIGHTLIGN travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding his riding of LOVELY BOY in the middle stages, G Mosse stated that after being wide making the first turn he had to ride his mount along to obtain a forward position as instructed. He said it was not until approaching the 800 Metres that he was able to adequately clear JADE PIPPO to his inside and cross to race outside TOMODACHI in the lead. He said as he had ridden LOVELY BOY to success recently when leading on the horse, he continued forward of TOMODACHI with a view to ascertaining whether the rider of that horse would hand up and allow LOVELY BOY to cross to the lead. He added after the 800 Metres it became apparent to him that the rider of TOMODACHI was intent on maintaining his position, however, he allowed LOVELY BOY to continue to race in advance of that horse in the event that TOMODACHI did eventually hand up its position. He said this resulted in LOVELY BOY being run at a faster tempo than he had hoped and because of this it was then not able to finish off its race. G Mosse conceded, after viewing the video of the race, that he had erred in not steadying LOVELY BOY near the 700 Metres and sitting off TOMODACHI. G Mosse was severely reprimanded and advised by the Stewards that, in their opinion, he had ridden an ill-judged race on LOVELY BOY. He was reminded of his obligation to ensure that he rides his mounts in such a manner so that they are able to finish off their races.
A veterinary inspection of LOVELY BOY and KYNAM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
PEARL WIN and FIRE STARTER were sent for sampling.
