Racing Incident Report

BACK IN BLACK shifted out at the start and made heavy contact with HAPPY YEAH YEAH, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Then, from a wide barrier, BACK IN BLACK was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Shortly after the start, BORNTOACHIEVE and TRAVEL DATUK were crowded for room between GOLDEN HARVEST and YOU READ MY MIND which shifted in. In this incident, BORNTOACHIEVE bumped the hindquarters of GOLDEN HARVEST which became unbalanced.
Passing the 1000 Metres, BACK IN BLACK got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of TRAVEL DATUK.
Passing the 150 Metres, BACK IN BLACK was shifted in away from the heels of GOLDEN HARVEST which shifted in under pressure.
Near the 100 Metres, BORNTOACHIEVE was shifted out away from the heels of HAPPY METEOR which was giving ground.
Approaching the 50 Metres, FLYING TOURBILLON was directed in away from the heels of CHARITY JOY which was shifting out under pressure.
M Chadwick (CHARITY JOY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 50 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of BLOCKER DEE, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 30 November 2016 and to expire on Monday, 5 December 2016 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration M Chadwick’s good race riding record.
Throughout the race, HAPPY YEAH YEAH travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of BACK IN BLACK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Z Purton will be interviewed regarding the disappointing performance of BACK IN BLACK prior to the Sha Tin racemeeting on Saturday, 12 November 2016.
BLOCKER DEE, VERBINSKY and CHARITY JOY were sent for sampling.
