Racing Incident Report

HELLO KIMBERLEY began awkwardly and then, despite being ridden along in the early stages, failed to muster speed.
From the outside barrier, GOLDEN CHOPSTICKS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 900 Metres, GOBI STORM got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of SLEDGE HAMMER which was taken in by BOLSHOI BALLET (Z Purton). Z Purton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Passing the 800 Metres, SLEDGE HAMMER lost its left front plate.
Making the first turn after the 700 Metres, BOLSHOI BALLET got its head on the side and shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RESPECT. BOLSHOI BALLET then lay out making the Home Turn.
Also making the first turn after the 700 Metres, GOBI STORM lay out when racing greenly.
After the 700 Metres, SLEDGE HAMMER was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SLEDGE HAMMER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SLEDGE HAMMER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Passing the 300 Metres, SALSA BROTHERS raced tight inside HEARTS KEEPER.
For the majority of the race, HEARTS KEEPER travelled wide and without cover.
FLYING GODSPELL, HAPPY JOURNEY and RESPECT were sent for sampling.
<6/2/2017 Additional Veterinary Report>SLEDGE HAMMER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. SLEDGE HAMMER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be sore in its left front suspensory. As previously advised, SLEDGE HAMMER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
