Racing Incident Report

FLASH FAMOUS was slow to begin.
ALL BEST FRIENDS shifted in at the start and bumped GOOD BEAUTY.
Shortly after the start, FANTASTIC FEELING raced tight between BIG BANG BONG and BLITZING, both of which shifted ground.
HARRIER JET and GENEROUS HEART were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Approaching the 900 Metres, BLITZING was crowded for room between MY CHANCE and LITTLE BIRD (G van Niekerk) which shifted in before being directed back out to relieve the tightening to BLITZING. In this incident, MY CHANCE became unbalanced after being bumped by BLITZING. G van Niekerk was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners on his inside in similar circumstances.
After the 500 Metres, MY CHANCE raced in restricted room inside LITTLE BIRD which shifted in marginally.
Passing the 200 Metres, GOOD BEAUTY, when improving into tight running between MY CHANCE and LITTLE BIRD, was crowded for room due to MY CHANCE shifting out initially before being directed in to relieve the tightening to GOOD BEAUTY and LITTLE BIRD which shifted in under pressure. G van Niekerk was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground and causing interference to other runners. When MY CHANCE was shifted in to relieve the tightening to GOOD BEAUTY, HARRIER JET, which was following, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse passing the 100 Metres to continue improving.
Throughout the race, POWERMAX travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performance of POWERMAX, a last start winner, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, POWERMAX will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of POWERMAX immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
H N Wong (FLASH FAMOUS) was warned against the practice of raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder.
The Stewards will also speak to W M Lai, the rider of GENEROUS HEART, for having raised his whip arm above the height of his shoulder in the Straight.
FANTASTIC FEELING and BLITZING were sent for sampling.
