Racing Incident Report
WHAMPOA STAR began awkwardly and lost ground.
SUPER FUN began only fairly.
From wide barriers, DARING HEART and GOLD VELVET were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When being steadied to obtain cover, EVER LAUGH got its head up on a number of occasions passing the 1500 Metres.
Near the 1250 Metres, SUPER FUN momentarily raced in restricted room inside ROMANTIC CHEF (Z Purton) which was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to SUPER FUN. SUPER FUN was then steadied to allow ROMANTIC CHEF to cross and for some distance after the 1100 Metres was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse. Z Purton was advised that whilst SUPER FUN’s racing manners had contributed to this incident, nonetheless he should have provided SUPER FUN with more clearance than he did on this occasion when crossing that runner. He was told to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Passing the 1000 Metres, DARING HEART commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of LOTUS BREEZE.
CHIU CHOW KID was awkwardly placed behind MY WINNER rounding the Home Turn.
Passing the 300 Metres, GOLD VELVET was shifted to the inside of LOTUS BREEZE after being disappointed for running between that horse and DARING HEART.
Near the 150 Metres, CHIU CHOW KID and SUPER FUN were crowded for room inside BIG BULLY which shifted in away from MY WINNER. In this incident, BIG BULLY became badly unbalanced due to contact with SUPER FUN and then being directed out to relieve the tightening to SUPER FUN.
Passing the 100 Metres, BIG BULLY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of MY WINNER.
Close to the finishing line, GOLD VELVET was unable to obtain clear running between CHAPARRAL STAR and LOTUS BREEZE and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
Also close to the finishing line, CHIU CHOW KID was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ROMANTIC CHEF and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on ROMANTIC CHEF at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ROMANTIC CHEF will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER FUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MY WINNER, EVER LAUGH and ROMANTIC CHEF were sent for sampling.
