Racing Incident Report

After being loaded into the barriers, MR MAGELLAN momentarily got its head down and then became fractious. From the outside barrier, MR MAGELLAN began very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, resulting in its rider, A Badel, becoming unbalanced and momentarily losing the use of his left stirrup iron. Before being allowed to race again, MR MAGELLAN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
HAPPY ALUMNI began only fairly.
HIGH REV shifted out at the start and bumped WICKER which was then bumped by STRATHBARRA which shifted in after making contact with REGENCY DARLING. This resulted in WICKER being taken in onto the hindquarters of HIGH REV which became unbalanced.
BRAVE BABY shifted out at the start and bumped PERFECT PAIR.
From a wide barrier, JOY MASTER was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
LEVANTE got its head up on a number of occasions in the early stages when being steadied to obtain cover.
Despite being ridden along for a considerable distance in the early stages, REGENCY DARLING failed to show sufficient speed to be able to cross GUERDON HELMET and consequently was left racing wide and without cover throughout.
Rounding the Home Turn, PERFECT PAIR raced tight outside GUERDON HELMET as that horse was shifted out.
Passing the 400 Metres, HAPPY ALUMNI was shifted to the inside of GUERDON HELMET to improve. HAPPY ALUMNI then had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 200 Metres.
Passing the 300 Metres, JOY MASTER was shifted to the outside of HIGH REV after being disappointed for running inside that horse.
Passing the 100 Metres, WICKER was awkwardly placed behind BLINK OF A SECOND which was steadied and shifted to the outside of REGENCY DARLING to obtain clear running.
A veterinary inspection of STRATHBARRA immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
BRAVE BABY and HAPPY ALUMNI were sent for sampling.
