Racing Incident Report

LEAN PERFECTION began only fairly.
Shortly after the start, SHANGHAI MASTER raced tight between HINCHINLOVE and STORM SIGNAL which shifted in. After this, SHANGHAI MASTER was shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 700 Metres, LEAN PERFECTION commenced to travel very keenly and raced close to the heels of RAGING BLITZKRIEG which became unbalanced and shifted out, causing HINCHINLOVE, which was racing wide and without cover after the 1000 Metres, to be taken wider still. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that RAGING BLITZKRIEG had sustained a small laceration below the right hock.
Approaching the 500 Metres, SHANGHAI MASTER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY FAMILY when attempting to improve into tight running between that horse and KING OF HEARTS.
Near the 450 Metres, LEAN PERFECTION and HINCHINLOVE bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
J Moreira (RAGING BLITZKRIEG) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the 250 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, resulting in STORM SIGNAL being hampered and taken in across the rightful running of SAUL’S SPECIAL which was checked. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 6 March 2019 and to expire on Monday, 11 March 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, J Moreira was fined $60,000.
Over the final 150 Metres, MY DARLING and LEAN PERFECTION (A Badel) raced tight. This resulted in A Badel’s use of the whip being restricted over the latter stages of the race.
When questioned, U Rispoli stated that he rode NEW ASIA SUNRISE along approaching the 1000 Metres to ensure that it was able to take a trailing position behind the favourite RAGING BLITZKRIEG. He said despite this LEAN PERFECTION, which was racing to the inside of NEW ASIA SUNRISE and which was travelling strongly, was able to shift to the outside of MY DARLING and in doing so bumped NEW ASIA SUNRISE. He said rather than ride his mount along in an attempt to re-establish its position which he did not believe he would be able to achieve, he then elected to obtain a trailing position behind LEAN PERFECTION rather than have NEW ASIA SUNRISE being bumped and having to race wide.
A veterinary inspection of SAUL’S SPECIAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RAGING BLITZKRIEG, LEAN PERFECTION and MY DARLING were sent for sampling.
