Racing Incident Report
DREAM WARRIORS began only fairly.
RIGHTEOUS MATE and THIS ONE’S FOR YOU bumped at the start. RIGHTEOUS MATE was then crowded for room between THIS ONE’S FOR YOU and ENJOY LIFE which shifted in.
KING MORTAR began awkwardly.
SMART PATCH shifted out at the start and bumped FLAME LILY. After this, from a wide barrier, SMART PATCH was shifted across behind runners.
Also from the outside barrier, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After passing the winning post on the first occasion, ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING MORTAR. ELECTRIC LIGHTNING was then steadied to obtain a position with cover behind DREAM WARRIORS near the 1300 Metres.
KING MORTAR was left racing wide and without cover after the 1100 Metres and in the Straight gave ground. The performance of KING MORTAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KING MORTAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of KING MORTAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
Near the 450 Metres, FAITHFUL TRINITY was awkwardly placed outside CHARITY WINGS which shifted to the outside of ENJOY LIFE.
Rounding the Home Turn, DREAM WARRIORS was bumped by FAITHFUL TRINITY which attempted to shift to the outside of THIS ONE’S FOR YOU to obtain clear running. Due to FAITHFUL TRINITY being awkwardly placed close to the heels of THIS ONE’S FOR YOU when unable to shift to that horse’s outside, FAITHFUL TRINITY was then shifted to the inside of THIS ONE’S FOR YOU near the 250 Metres to obtain clear running.
Passing the 200 Metres, FAITHFUL TRINITY raced tight between CHARITY WINGS and THIS ONE’S FOR YOU which shifted in.
Near the 50 Metres, FAITHFUL TRINITY and THIS ONE’S FOR YOU bumped.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of RIGHTEOUS MATE, A Domeyer stated that his mount did not travel to the Start as strongly as it did when ridden by him in the past. He said RIGHTEOUS MATE began only fairly and then did not show any early speed despite being hard ridden in the early stages. He said RIGHTEOUS MATE travelled only fairly in the race and after shifting in away from the heels of CHARITY WINGS at the entrance to the Straight did not close off the race as he anticipated. He added, in his opinion, RIGHTEOUS MATE raced "flat” tonight. A veterinary inspection of RIGHTEOUS MATE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

RIGHTEOUS MATE, SMART PATCH and FLAME LILY were sent for sampling.
