Racing Incident Report

FENRIR began very awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with SILVER FIG which became badly unbalanced. SILVER FIG then shifted in after bumping SONIC FIGHTER, causing FENRIR to be hampered.
GOLD WIN shifted out at the start and bumped CHARIZARD. A short distance after this, GOLD WIN raced tight between CHARIZARD and SONIC FIGHTER which shifted out.
From wide barriers, DECISIVE ACTION, ULTIMATE GLORY and MIGHTY MAVERICK were all steadied and shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 1300 Metres, SILVER FIG raced tight inside SONIC FIGHTER.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, PICKEN got its head on the side and shifted in, resulting in FENRIR being crowded for room.
Making the turn near the 800 Metres, FENRIR was steadied away from the heels of LITTLE WISE MAN which was steadied after racing tight inside SILVER FIG.
FENRIR had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300 Metres and approaching the 250 Metres was shifted in away from the heels of PEOPLE’S KNIGHT which was commencing to give ground.
In the Straight, SONIC FIGHTER raced with its head on the side and lay in under pressure.
N Callan, the rider of SILVER FIG, 6th placegetter, was fined $3,000 for failing to weigh in after the race as required.
The performance of GOLD WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of GOLD WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
After the race, Z Purton said that after being ridden along in the early stages to obtain a forward position from the wide barrier, PEOPLE’S KNIGHT did not travel comfortably throughout the race and, in his opinion, may not have appreciated the "Good to Firm” racing surface. A veterinary inspection of PEOPLE’S KNIGHT immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, PEOPLE’S KNIGHT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the performance of SILVER FIG, N Callan stated that he was instructed to take up a forward position if possible. He said after being hampered at the start, he had to ride his mount along for some distance in the early stages to obtain a prominent position as instructed. He said after being able to shift in and obtain cover behind PEOPLE’S KNIGHT near the 800 Metres, SILVER FIG relaxed well, however, after showing some response at the entrance to the Straight, the horse then came under pressure after the 300 Metres and finished off the race only one-paced. He added he suggested to connections that SILVER FIG may be better suited by being ridden more patiently in its future starts if circumstances permit. A veterinary inspection of SILVER FIG immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LITTLE WISE MAN, M L Yeung stated that, from barrier 2, he was asked to obtain a position behind the speed if possible. He said whilst LITTLE WISE MAN was able to take up a forward position, he had to ride the horse along and pressure it to be in the position it was. He said after the 1100 Metres LITTLE WISE MAN was not comfortable racing tight inside SILVER FIG and for this reason he elected, rather than continue to push LITTLE WISE MAN to maintain its position, to allow SILVER FIG to cross LITTLE WISE MAN near the 800 Metres and took a trailing position behind that horse. He said when he did this LITTLE WISE MAN relaxed well and commenced to travel better. He added after being shifted to the outside of SILVER FIG rounding the Home Turn, LITTLE WISE MAN then quickened nicely in the early part of the Straight, however, its run ended near the 200 Metres and the horse finished off the race only fairly over the latter stages of the race. He said LITTLE WISE MAN was having only its 6th start today and, in his opinion, is somewhat immature as evidenced by the horse’s reluctance to maintain its position inside SILVER FIG. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE WISE MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of DIAMOND RHYME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
SILVER FIG, CHARIZARD and HAPPY FUN were sent for sampling.
<24/6/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>PEOPLE’S KNIGHT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. PEOPLE’S KNIGHT was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a very restricted action. As previously advised, PEOPLE’S KNIGHT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
