Racing Incident Report

ROMANTIC JOURNEY began awkwardly.
REGENCY GEM began only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between GOOD RUNNERS WAY and GOLD VELVET (L Hewitson) which shifted in. L Hewitson was reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground at the start. Then near the 1500 Metres, REGENCY GEM was steadied when crowded for room between PROUD SKY and GOLD VELVET which got its head on the side and shifted in. L Hewitson was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he must ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground.
Approaching the 1400 Metres, GOLD VELVET commenced to travel keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind PROUD SKY which after the 1400 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 1200 Metres, GOLD VELVET, which continued to travel keenly, was steadied away from the heels of PROUD SKY.
Passing the 700 Metres, LE PANACHE was awkwardly placed behind GOOD RUNNERS WAY.
Passing the 600 Metres, PROUD SKY was taken wider still by GOOD RUNNERS WAY which shifted to the outside of WHAMPOA STAR.
At the entrance to the Straight, WHAMPOA STAR was crowded for room between GOOD RUNNERS WAY and ROMANTIC JOURNEY which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out. In this incident, WHAMPOA STAR made contact with the hindquarters of GOOD RUNNERS WAY which became unbalanced and then lay in, resulting in WHAMPOA STAR being further crowded between YOUNG GLORY and GOOD RUNNERS WAY passing the 400 Metres. When racing tight inside GOOD RUNNERS WAY, WHAMPOA STAR shifted in approaching the 350 Metres and inconvenienced YOUNG GLORY.
After the 300 Metres, LE PANACHE was shifted to the outside of PROUD SKY after being disappointed for running between that horse and GOOD RUNNERS WAY.
Approaching the 250 Metres, REGENCY GEM raced close to the heels of GOOD RUNNERS WAY when momentarily having difficulty obtaining clear running behind that horse. After this, GOOD RUNNERS WAY lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride.
GOOD RUNNERS WAY and REGENCY GEM were sent for sampling.
