Racing Incident Report
Whilst in the saddling stalls, TEAM FORTUNE had its left front plate refitted. TEAM FORTUNE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
TEAM FORTUNE began only fairly.
GOLDEN EFFORT shifted out at the start and bumped BRIGHT KID (G van Niekerk). Then, despite being ridden along, BRIGHT KID failed to muster speed. After the race, G van Niekerk was not able to offer any reason for the disappointing performance of BRIGHT KID which was having its first race start on the All Weather Track today. A veterinary inspection of BRIGHT KID immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CHARGE ON shifted out at the start and was steadied away from the heels of BULLETPROOF. After this, from a wide barrier, CHARGE ON was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
BULLETPROOF made the turn near the 700 Metres awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of PLEASANT GUY and in doing so crowded the room of EXCEL DELIGHT. This resulted in BULLETPROOF losing ground when having difficulty maintaining its position inside EXCEL DELIGHT. TEAM FORTUNE, which was following, got its head up when being checked away from the heels of BULLETPROOF. BRIGHT KID was consequently shifted out away from the heels of TEAM FORTUNE near the 650 Metres, resulting in CHARGE ON being taken wider.
K Teetan (WAYFOONG CHARMER) dropped his whip at the 150 Metres. As this was the 4th occasion this season that K Teetan had been reported to have dropped his whip during a race, he was fined the sum of $5,000 and placed on notice regarding this aspect of his riding.
Throughout the race, JOY AVENUE travelled wide and without cover.
EXCEL DELIGHT and DOLLAR REWARD were sent for sampling.
