Racing Incident Report

PROMISE KEPT began awkwardly, then shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of OVERSUBSCRIBED, causing PROMISE KEPT to lose ground.
From the outside barriers, TELECOM MISSILE, VICTORY MASTERY and GALLANT LEGACY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover.
WINS ALL was also steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1000 Metres, PROMISE KEPT raced tight inside WINS ALL which got its head on the side and lay in away from VICTORY MASTERY.
After the 1000 Metres, EVERBRAVE, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of SKY TREASURE (H T Mo) which shifted in when not properly clear. H T Mo was reprimanded and told to ensure that he is properly clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After this, EVERBRAVE continued to travel keenly for some distance.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, GALLANT LEGACY was forced out by TELECOM MISSILE which got its head on the side and made the turn awkwardly.
Approaching the 400 Metres, SHANGHAI MASTER was awkwardly placed when improving into tight running between THE RUNNER and PLAY TO WIN.
After initially being directed out in an attempt to obtain clear running passing the 250 Metres, HAPPY GOOD GUYS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SKY TREASURE passing the 200 Metres when unable to continue shifting out due to THE RUNNER being positioned to its outside. HAPPY GOOD GUYS then had some difficulty obtaining clear running after the 200 Metres and close to the finishing line was awkwardly placed behind SKY TREASURE and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
After the race, Z Purton stated that SHANGHAI MASTER was not completely fluent in its action when proceeding to the barriers, however, the horse’s action improved sufficiently for him not to have any concern. He said in the early and middle stages SHANGHAI MASTER travelled comfortably, however, after being placed under pressure rounding the Home Turn did not feel comfortable in its action. He said he rode the horse out in the early part of the Straight, however, over the concluding stages SHANGHAI MASTER’s action deteriorated as it gave ground under pressure. A veterinary inspection of SHANGHAI MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SHANGHAI MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that PROMISE KEPT was lame in its right hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, PROMISE KEPT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY GOOD GUYS, SKY TREASURE and THE RUNNER were sent for sampling.
